Privacy Policy

KnowYourGeo (“we”, “us”) is a free GeoGuessr training product. For privacy questions, email hello@knowyourgeo.com.

Account data. If you sign up, we store your email, username, and authentication credentials via our auth provider (Supabase). Google OAuth may share your Google account email and profile basics with us when you choose that sign-in method.

Training data. Game preferences, journal entries, map packs, and weak-spot stats may be stored in your browser (local storage) and, when you are signed in, associated with your profile as the product evolves.

AI coaching inputs. If you use AI analysis, we send Street View context needed for a round (such as location metadata and scene description prompts) to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to generate coaching. Do not submit personal information in free-text fields that is unrelated to training.

Usage & diagnostics. We may log technical events needed to run the service (errors, rate limits, API usage). Optional Google Analytics only runs if you accept analytics cookies — see Cookies.

Training rounds use Google Maps Platform services (including Street View). Google processes map interactions under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not sell map imagery.

We use data to:

• Provide Street View drills, scoring, and coaching features
• Authenticate accounts and secure the service
• Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and manage AI costs
• Understand aggregate traffic when analytics consent is granted

We share data with processors that help us operate the product (hosting, auth, AI, and optional analytics). We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and users from abuse.

Account data is kept while your account remains active. Local training data stays in your browser until you clear it. Analytics retention follows the analytics provider’s settings when consent is granted.

You can request access, correction, or deletion of account data by emailing hello@knowyourgeo.com. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time via the cookie banner controls (clear site data or revisit Cookies and reset preference). You can stop using AI coaching by not triggering analysis.

KnowYourGeo is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). Do not create an account if you are under that age.

We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
